Jogye Order’s Novice Monk Training Begins

The commencement ceremony of the 44^th Jogye Order Novice Precept Training was held on March 1st, 2013, at Jikji-sa Temple, the 8^th district temple of Jogye Order.

A total of 66 male and 37 female novice monks participated in this year’s precept training.

The ceremony was finalized with Venerable Dukmun, the Head of Vinaya Sangha College at Tongdo-sa Temple, handing over the Jukbi (Bamboo clapper) to the Training Master in charge, which symbolized handing over the authority for general operation and disciplining of the trainees.

The 44^th Novice Monk Training lasted from February 28^th to the 15^th for 16 days at the Jikji-sa Temple.
