From 16 to 20 September, the Association of Korean Buddhist Orders (headed by Most Ven. Jinwoo, president of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism) held the Korea-Mongolia Buddhist Cultural Exchange event in Ulaanbaatar and Gorkhi-Terelj National Park, as part of the '11th Korea Buddhist Leaders' Buddhist Cultural Exchange Project'. Buddhist leaders from Korea and Mongolia practiced Seon meditation together, vowing to enhance bilateral Buddhist exchanges and realize world peace.
Seon meditation is developed and disseminated by the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism to promote public mental health and spread a culture of spiritual practice to achieve world peace. Various meditation techniques, such as breathing meditation and meditation with a hwadu (critical phrase), have been made publicly available so that anyone can practice them in daily life to help achieve peace of mind.
“I would like to express my respect for Mongolian Buddhists’ efforts to rebuild their community despite many difficulties and persecution,” said Most Ven. Jinwoo. He added, “Let us strengthen exchanges by frequently visiting and communicating with each other.”
“I would like to thank the Korean Buddhist leaders for visiting Mongolia to foster exchanges with the Mongolian Buddhist community. I look forward to furthering the development of Buddhist communities in both nations, and ultimately achieving world peace through these exchanges,” replied Venerable Javzandorj.
