On Jan 16, the Bulkwang Zen Center New York (Most Eminent Elder, Ven. Hwigwang) held its first half year meeting of the Jogye Order’s East American Branch, which was attended by 15 monastics from affiliated temples.

At the meeting, the financial report for the second half of 2022 was made public, in addition to events at affiliated temples for 2023, the current status of monastic duty positions for the East American Branch, and other issues. The meeting also discussed the 2023 schedule for different levels of monastic examinations, the issuance of devotee IDs, and future directions for Branch activities.
