On March 10, 2026, the Buddhist Club Dongbul at the Los Angeles campus of Dongguk University held an awards ceremony to conclude the 2025 winter semester. The club presented awards, such as the Perfect Attendance Award, to members who participated diligently in club activities.
The awards ceremony was organized to encourage students who participated in Buddhist studies and volunteer activities throughout the semester. The Dongbul members, guided by their supervising monks, dedicated themselves to the study of the Avatamsaka Sutra. Through their volunteer work and participation in various events, they exemplified the highest standards of Buddhist conduct.
The event was endorsed by Professor Park Juyong, the dean of Dongguk University LA Campus. Club members have striven to embody the Buddhist spirit through studying Buddhist doctrine, engaging in spiritual practices, and attending local Buddhist events.
“We presented awards and prizes to acknowledge the students for practicing Buddhism in their lives, and to encourage them to continue with their devotional activities, the study of the Avatamsaka Sutra, and volunteer work,” said a faculty member related to the Dongbul. “We look forward to the club continuing to develop as an exemplary group that shares Buddhist culture and practice.”
The awards ceremony was a meaningful occasion in which Deodongbul members and their supervising monks gathered to recognize students' hard work this semester and reaffirm their commitment to future activities.
