On February 24, 2013, His Eminence Jinje pronounced the finishing of 2012 winter retreat, and gave a Dharma teaching to the group of monks from nine district temples of Jogye Order; all gathered in Donghwa-sa temple to finalize their winter retreat.

H.E. Jinje taught, “You must look back to find how well you have truly contemplated during this retreat” and added, “If you have practiced the Hwadu properly, then you would have reached the stage where you neither hear nor see anything. If you have not, then you must be ashamed of yourself for lacking diligent efforts for enlightenment. The great courage must be present to realize the Hwadu, this is truly the time when we can say the retreat have ended.”
