Dust,灰塵(灰尘) [huī chén] dust, to brush off dust.

If we break everything down, it becomes dust. Of course, if we divide the dust further, nothing remains. If we break down thoughts, only lightness remains. Just as dust leaves nothing in the end, letting go of thoughts brings ease.

Dust outside is visible and therefore can be wiped away, but dust accumulated in the mind is not as easily removed. This dust of the mind is called afflictions. If left uncleansed, they thicken, harden, and solidify, controlling us in the end.

The dust in our mind is wiped away when we can acknowledge ourselves and express our thoughts—whether good or bad—honestly and confidently. At some point, the dust disappears on its own without needing to wipe it away, and we feel at ease.

Have a peaceful day.
